John took me on a tour of the mills and talked knowledgeably of the history of the site:

“As a point of interest I am told there were previously two reservoirs on the site – I assume to service the sprinkler system prior to using water mains. There is so much history here; it makes it worthwhile maintaining the mills.

The flat roofs were known as flood roofs as they held water to a certain level to assist in cooling.  I believe there was also a nursery here so that female workers of the day could attend.”

When John talks about the work that has been carried out being a large project he is not exaggerating!

Seeing the mills stripped bare on some levels gives you a real sense of their size from the inside.  All the ground floor offices have now been let. The other floors are multi-purpose offering businesses the opportunity to utilize Self Storage units, studios, workshops, offices or even larger industrial or warehouse units. Industrial or workshop units can be built to a high standard and will adhere to all necessary legislation.
