Swan Lane number 1 and 2 mills were indeed a rarity; completed in two phases, the first in 1902 and the second in 1905 and together formed a 210,000-spindle double mill that for a short time laid claim to be the largest spinning mill in the world.

In 1914 Swan Lane Mill number 3 was added.
With a site area covering 4.75 acres and a building encompassing 435,000 square feet of space over six floors.
